Privacy Policy
Introduction
Trinie is operated by Wise in Motion Engineering N.V. in Aruba. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain, and safeguard information when you use our grocery price scanning and comparison tools.
Information We Collect
Price and store data
We display product prices and store information from approved retailer, government, and other non-user sources. Receipt and shelf-tag scans you submit are private to your account and are not published in the public catalog.
Information You Provide
When you create an account, scan a receipt or shelf tag, correct scan results, or contact us, you may provide your name, email address, photos, and other optional information. If you allow camera access, the camera is used only to scan receipts, shelf tags, and store loyalty QR codes. If you allow location access, your approximate or precise location is used while the app is open. We may send coordinates with a receipt or shelf-tag scan to help identify the store and match its prices, and use location to show nearby stores and discounts when those features are available. We do not collect location in the background. You can deny or revoke permission; scanning still works, but store matching may be less accurate. If you report a catalog price or product image, the report includes the item and price reference and is sent to staff for review. Bug reports, catalog reports, and other feedback may include the message you write, your account email if you are signed in, and technical context: app version, phone model, operating system version, language, and the screen you were on. If you vote on or suggest a feature, we store your vote or suggestion with your account. Hidden catalog prices and images are saved locally on your device and are not sent to Trinie. We use submitted information to process scans, review catalog reports, keep your history, fix problems, decide what to build next, and improve the service.
Optional cash-flow and bank-statement data
If you use the paid cash-flow feature, you may enter account balances, income, expenses, assets, liabilities, targets, and CSV bank statements. This information is private to your account and is used to calculate the cash-flow views you request. Statement rows do not change an account balance until you review and confirm them. Original statement files are stored privately and can be deleted with their import. V1.1 makes no cash-flow AI call. If you later enable the V2 read-only coach and explicitly confirm a question, your question and dated aggregate calculations may be sent to the configured AI provider; raw statements, transaction descriptions, bank/account names, and identifiers are excluded. Coach questions and answers can be deleted.
Automatically Collected Information
We may collect technical information such as your IP address (which we also use to limit abuse, for example repeated bug reports from one device), browser type, device information, and usage patterns. We use cookies and similar technologies to enhance your experience and analyze site traffic. The mobile app uses Sentry to receive crash and error reports (such as the error, app version, device model, and operating system version) so that we can fix problems. We configure it not to collect your name, email address, or other directly identifying details.
How We Use Your Information
- To provide and improve receipt scanning and price comparison for Aruba shoppers
- To process your scans, corrections, and contact messages
- To analyze usage patterns and improve user experience
- To communicate with you about your account or submissions (if you provide contact information)
- To process receipt and product images while a scan is active. When you delete your account, uploaded images, extracted scan details, and scan records are deleted.
AI and Automated Processing
We use automated systems and Google Gemini to read receipt and shelf-tag images, structure extracted text, match products and stores, translate product names, detect possible errors, and support service operations. The image, extracted text, and task instructions may be sent directly to Google. Gemini processing may include limited provider logging for safety, security, and legal compliance. We do not use Trinie to make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you.
Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal account information (such as your name or email). We may share information in the following circumstances:
- Approved non-user-source price data is displayed on our platform for all users to see. Prices derived from shopper receipt scans are not shown in the public catalog.
- With hosting, storage, email, analytics, crash-reporting (Sentry), security, and AI service providers that process data for operating Trinie under applicable contracts or provider terms
- If required by law or to protect our rights and safety
- When you delete your account, uploaded receipt and product images and extracted scan details are deleted. De-identified price records may be retained without a link to your account. Business users are not subject to a commercial license over their submissions (see Terms of Service).
Your Rights
- Access: You can request access to any personal information we hold about you
- Correction: You can request correction of inaccurate information
- Deletion: You can delete your account in the Trinie app (Profile, then Delete my account) or request deletion by contacting us. See Account Deletion below
- Consent Withdrawal: You can withdraw consent for data processing at any time through cookie settings
Retention and Account Closure
We retain account information while your account is active and as needed for security, support, legal, and accounting obligations. We process receipt and product images and extracted scan details to provide scanning and price comparison. When you close your account, private cash-flow and statement records, uploaded receipt and product images, extracted scan details, scan records, stored scan coordinates, feature votes, and account-linked feedback are deleted. De-identified derived price records may be kept without a link to your account. Server application logs are kept only as the latest 3 files of up to 10 MB each, and older log files are deleted. The application server does not store a database backup of your account.
International Processing
Trinie is operated from Aruba, and service providers may process or store information in other countries. Those countries may have different privacy laws. We use provider terms, data-processing arrangements, access controls, and available privacy settings intended to protect information when it is processed outside Aruba.
Cookies and Tracking
We use cookies to remember your preferences, analyze site traffic, and improve your experience. You can manage cookie preferences through the cookie settings on our website.
Age Requirement
Trinie is not directed to people under 18, and we do not knowingly allow people under 18 to create accounts or submit scans. Contact us if you believe a person under 18 has provided personal information.
Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Account Deletion
You can delete your account at any time in the Trinie mobile app: open the Profile tab, scroll to the bottom, tap Delete my account, and confirm. This permanently deletes your account, sign-in details, private cash-flow and bank-statement records, feature votes, uploaded receipt and product images, extracted scan details, stored scan locations, scan records, and account-linked feedback. De-identified derived price records may be retained without a link to your account. If you cannot access the app, contact us from the link below using the email address of your account and we will delete it for you.
What we keep: de-identified price records may remain after account closure without a link to your account. Uploaded receipt and product images, extracted scan details, scan records, stored scan coordinates, feature votes, account-linked feedback, and private financial records are deleted. Hidden catalog prices and images are stored only on your device and are removed when you clear app data or uninstall. Server application logs are kept only as the latest 3 files of up to 10 MB each, and older log files are deleted. The application server does not store a database backup of your account.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the 'Last updated' date.
